As part of Castle Rock School District's objective of
"Inspiring pride and achievement for all through relevant learning and great expectations!"
The Castle Rock school board is reinstating community service as a graduation requirement that were suspended during restrictions due to the pandemic. The following adjustments will be made per class as to the total hours needed for graduation, and when they should be acquired.
Castle Rock Community Service required hours:
Freshmen: 2 hours (Follow the established requirements)
Sophomores: 4 hours (Follow requirements, but make up Freshmen 2 hours before graduation)
Juniors: 6 hours (earn 6 hours Junior year, 8 hours senior year for a total of 14 for graduation)
Seniors: 8 hours (earn 8 hours senior year for the graduation requirement)
Graduation requirement: 20 hours
Students may accrue more hours than are mandated, but must still achieve their hours requirement per grade level.
Ex: Going into Junior year, the student has volunteered and has 21 hours logged, they still will be required to earn 6 hours during the year

OPPORTUNITIES THIS SCHOOL YEAR:
1. Longview Holiday Parade, December 3rd, check in time is 4:15. Sign up on the C.S. bulletin board
2. Castle Rock Food Bank: Sunday, Dec 4th, 12 - 6pm, Monday, 12/5 3-5
3. Castle Rock Festival of Lights, December 10th, be a character/character guide, or work in the games. Sign up on the C.S. bulletin board. Starting time is 2pm - 8ish (Work all 6 hours or partial)
PAST OPPORTUNITIES:
1. 9/24: Ryderwood Pond Cleanup: 8am-2pm lunch provided. Contact Marian 360-636-2123
2. 10/8: North County Auction: 4pm - 8pm, help move auction items.
3. 10/15: Ryderwood Firewise Clearing: 8am - Noon, Contact Gayle 360-751-2177
4. 10/30: Haunted Barn: dusk - 10ish, Call Kristi 360-431-8335 or sign up on C.S. Board outside Mrs. Moore's.
5. 10/31: Halloween Jamboree: Noon - 6pm, CR Jail garden area. (Smaller work times available)
